About this project

Records you can trace to their source.

ChunavData organises election results, public candidate records and official voter-list links. It is an independent project, not the Election Commission of India, a state election commission or a government service.

Read the date before the number

An election result describes a particular election. A winning candidate in that record is not automatically the current officeholder. Later elections, by-elections, resignations and other changes require separate evidence.

A source publication date, the date we checked a source and an election year describe different things. A recent check does not make an older record current. Check the page’s stated election, geography and source before reusing a figure.

Start with the primary record

Use the source links on each record to check the underlying publication. Official election results, electoral-roll publications and candidate affidavits have different purposes. An affidavit reports a candidate’s declarations; it is not an independent finding about those declarations.

For current voter registration, applications or deadlines, confirm instructions with the relevant election authority. ChunavData does not register voters or decide electoral eligibility.

Coverage has boundaries

The site covers selected states, elections and records. A directory or map is not proof of complete national coverage. Missing information means it is unavailable in that record; it must not be interpreted as zero, no contest or no declaration.

Compare numbers only when their geography, year, unit and publication stage match. Draft rolls, final rolls and later supplements are separate records. Read any local caveat before combining totals.

Voter privacy

Public voter-list pages provide aggregate coverage and official access links. They do not publish personal voter profiles, EPIC numbers, house numbers or household records. Public candidate information is a separate category and remains tied to the election record and cited source.

Do not send voter identity documents or personal roll extracts when reporting a website issue.

Public information and paid services

Election records and official voter-list links can be browsed without purchasing a package. Paid services are presented separately with their scope. Buying a service does not provide government affiliation, electoral approval or a guaranteed election outcome.

Flag a record that needs attention

Use the contact and brief page to prepare the details of an issue. Include the ChunavData page URL, the disputed wording or figure, and a public source that supports the correction. That page explains the available handoff; preparing a brief does not itself send a message.
