Understand a changing voter list
SIR stands for Special Intensive Revision. This research desk brings together official electoral-roll sources and explains how to read them. It is a guide to evidence, not an individual voter-status database.
Begin with the state’s official source and identify the roll date. A draft, a final publication and a later supplement describe different moments in the process. Combining them without checking their scope can produce misleading totals.

Read the guide →Three questions before sharing a number
- Which stage? Record the baseline, draft, final publication or supplement date.
- Which population? A count of cases is not automatically a count of people. A decided-appeal rate says nothing by itself about pending appeals.
- Which source? Link the order or table behind the claim, not just a headline repeating it.
